In 2018, Mr. Man and Mr. Hardy formed a new partnership and founded Hardy + Man Design Group, PC. Our team has over 60 combined years of professional experience in civil engineering, land development and sustainable design. Mr. Man completed this project at VHB, Inc. He was the project manager in charge of civil site and stormwater management design. The design of this award winning project utilized many Low Impact Development and sustainable techniques on reducing our carbon footprint. Such measures includes urban rain gardens to retain stormwater, roof runoff collection and re-use system, porous pavement to reduce and infiltrate on-site runoff, etc. The project manages to retain 69% stormwater on-site which can improve stormwater quality and reduce capacity concern from the aging combined sewer system in the City of Boston.
29-33 Newport Avenue, Quincy, MA
Hardy + Man Design Group, PC (HMDG) provides civil engineering and permitting services to secure Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appears and Conservation Commission approval on this urban redevelopment project. This project consists of a 7-story building with a small retail space that will be replacing an existing under utilized commercial site. The new building will increase open space and enhanced landscaping. An on-site stormwater management system will capture roof runoff and provide on-site infiltration, reduce stormwater runoff onto the neighborhood and minimize flooding. The site is within FEMA special hazard flood area. HMDG incorporates design elements that meets FEMA flood plain management guideline and MassDEP regulations. The project is within minutes walking distance to local shops, restaurants and North Quincy MBTA Station. This is an TOD project that will enhance the much needed housing stock in the metro Boston area without impacting the neighborhood.

1177 Washington Street, Braintree, MA
Handy + Man Design Group (HMDG) provided civil engineer and permitting services for this restaurant project at 1177 Washington Street in Braintree, MA. The site is within riverfront to Monatiquot River and within FEMA special hazard flood area. HMDG utilized cost effective green infrastructure to retrofit the existing under-utilized existing parking lot to manage on site stormwater runoff. The design enhances runoff quality and minimize downstream flooding by reducing site runoff. Our design meets FEMA and MassDEP performance standards and secured local Conservation Commission approval.

F. W. Webb Showroom & Warehouse Malden, MA
Mr. Man was the project manager at VHB, Inc. where he was in charge of civil engineering and permitting to redevelop an old under-utilized car dealership into this modern Plumbing Supply Showroom and Warehouse. The original site experienced flooding during heavy rain storm. Meeting the specific owner requirements, the final design utilized green infrastructure to mitigate flooding issue. The site incorporated extensive landscape and rain gardens to retain surface runoff and infiltrate into the groundwater system.
